Rugby, played in over 120 countries
across the world, is played for its rich
history, traditions, camaraderie, and
toughness. Rugby is played mainly
as a 15 on 15, 80 minute match, but
7 on 7, or sevens, is also popularly
played.

What Is Rugby?
Home
The object of the game is that two teams of fifteen players each, should score as many
points as possible, by carrying, passing, kicking and grounding the ball with the team
scoring the greater number of points being the winner of the match. It is classified as an
'end zone invasion game'. The aim of each team is to gain possession of the ball, take it
into opposition territory and to place it in the in-goal area (end zone). Rugby is a game
of continuous flow, there is constant competition for the ball at the breakdown. These are
called Rucks and Mauls.
Object:
Playing rugby has many benefits.
Not only does it allow you to show
your competitive side in an
intense environment, it also gets
you in shape, allows you to make
friends through teamwork, and
most of all, it allows you to help
your community. Hudson Rugby
Club regularly holds community
events such as hot dog roasts, car
washes, and benefit car shows.
Why play?
Rugby is also an exciting, thrilling experience. Hard hits, teamwork, and slick moves are
all things you learn (or take) from playing rugby.
